How we teach and support

Our entire teaching staff is dedicated to the detail and we want to ensure every child achieves to their own potential. 

This means ensuring we have a robust system of teaching and support that not only caters to the average (or middle student) – but also the advanced student or the student that needs some extra support. 

For learning to take place we need to ensure that every child feels safe, happy and confident within themselves – and so a huge emphasis is placed on a strong wellbeing and support program that achieves just that!

Targeted Teaching
Our students are assessed at the beginning/end of each school year to determine individual starting points in the areas of English and Mathematics. These assessments allow us to develop personalised learning goals with each of our students that ensure that all learners are supported to reach their full potential.
Additional Support
At St Timothy’s, additional support for our students is provided within the classroom setting and through individualised support out of the classroom. In addition, staff develop Personalised Learning Plans with parents and outside agencies to support children’s individual learning needs. We are fortunate to be able to provide additional support in all classrooms.
Social Emotional Learning
Social and Emotional Learning is taught explicitly through all of our classes. St Timothy’s utilises a wide range of programs to best support students. Each student’s social and emotional achievements are reported each semester in their written report.
Positive Behaviours

St Timothy’s is a Positive Behaviour Management School. Our expectations of responsibility, respect, resilience, support and safety are taught explicitly in our classrooms and our students receive positive rewards when they demonstrate these expectations.

Kinder to Prep Transition
St Timothy’s has strong relationships with a number of kinders and childcare centres in our local area. A Year 6 /Foundation buddy program is a wonderful entry into school life for our Foundation year and an excellent leadership opportunity for our Year 6 students. Our onsite Childcare/Kindergarten have the opportunity to regularly visit our school to use our resources and work with our students. We run an extension optimal transition program over 10 weeks in Term 3 4 for all enrolled children. Our Foundation teacher visits all children at their kinder/Childcare Centre and meets with their pre- school teacher before starting at St Timothy’s.
Moving Schools
St Timothy’s provides the opportunity for children transferring from other schools to spend some hours/days at school prior to full time starting to help feel more confident in their transition. To support the transition of students to our school, we receive permission to speak to the child’s previous school and ensure we understand his/her individual learning profile. Parents are encouraged to meet with teachers to discuss any particular concerns they have about their child. When a child joins St Timothy’s we warmly welcome the whole family.
